Tim Pink often turns heads as he strolls down the street, and it’s no surprise why. It’s not a common sight to witness someone walking 20 dogs simultaneously. However, for this committed dog walker, it’s all in a day’s work. Since 2011, he has been offering a distinctive service to dog owners, assisting their furry companions in learning to remain tranquil and well-mannered in different settings.
The idea for this unique career path came to him when he realized he would need someone to care for his own dog, a Doberman named Bluff, if he were to take a nine-to-five job. Rather than hiring someone, he decided to become that person himself. Since then, his business has expanded, and he now walks dogs of all breeds and sizes, ranging from four pounds to over 100!
The pack walks start at 9:00 a.m., with the dogs being picked up individually before joining the group walk. The aim is to challenge the dogs mentally, teaching them to be calm and well-behaved in various environments. This includes practicing sit-stays and walking around other dogs while maintaining their position.
When distractions like other dogs or squirrels occur, Tim focuses on redirecting the dogs’ attention back to him. He may slow down, change direction, or initiate a sit to challenge the dogs and assist them in learning how to manage these situations. The dogs in the pack have developed a strong bond, with trust and respect clearly visible in their interactions. They show affection to each other, fostering a sense of family. Tim takes pride in witnessing the dogs’ progress as they advance through the program, with their confidence increasing day by day.
